Doris (Clanton) Rogers
Dec. 15, 1918 ~ Dec. 14, 2013

Doris Rogers, 94, of Chiefland, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, one day before her 95th birthday, at North Florida Regional Hospital. She was born to Earl "Tex" and Irene (Gable) Clanton on Dec. 15, 1918, in Galen, Kan. She graduated with the class of 1940, from Picher High School in Picher, Okla. She was an evening chief for Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator from 1941-1948. In December 1948, she married D.L. Rogers. They moved to Chiefland in 1954 and became involved in real estate. She served 26 years with the city of Chiefland on the planning board and city commission. She was instrumental in helping to bring Winn Dixie, McDonald�s and Walmart to the community.

Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, D.L. Rogers; son, Earl Rogers; brothers, Carroll, Weldon and Tommy Clanton; sisters, Dorthnell Clanton and Linda Budeislic; and son-in-law, Dale Langford.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Langford of Enid, Okla.; sister, Cynthia Kuhnemond of Mannford, Okla.; four grandsons, David (April) Rogers of Chiefland, Carle Langford of Enid, Johnathan (Casie) Hart of Chiefland, and Landry Rogers of Baytown, Texas; three great-granddaughters, Natalee Langford of Enid, and Devin and Sydney Rogers of Chiefland; and nieces, nephews, many friends and family at Ayers Health and Rehab in Trenton.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Chiefland, with the Rev. Gordon Keller officiating. There will be a visitation at the church one hour before service time. There will also be an open visitation from 1-5 p.m. today, Dec. 17, at the funeral home.
