Joan Sue Brewer Robinson graduated from Stilwell Highschool with the class of "54. she went to Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and graduated in 1957 with a B.S. in Home Economics Education.
She lived 20 years in Ponca City, where she was executive director of Help Line, Inc.
In 1979, she graduated from OSU with an M.A. in History.
She worked for the Oklahoma Historical Society in Oklahoma City and Enid. During this time she met and married David Robinson. They lived in Ft. Gibson where Dave was Director of Historic Properties for Northeast Oklahoma.
In 1983, Joan and Dave joined the Peace Corp and were posted in the Eastern Caribbean of the Islands of Barbados and Nevis.
Follow five years in the P.C. they decided to stay on and work for the Nevis Historical & Conservation Society.
They took long vacations in the states at their home in upstate New York in order to see their children who live in Oregon, Kansas, New Hampshire and upstate New York.
Joan was especially proud of an accomplishment in the Spring 2003, when she swam across the channel from Nevis to Banana Bay in St. Kitts. It was a 2 1/2 mile swim; it took 3 hours-no stopping.
Joan and Dave had 5 children and 14 grandchildren.
Joan died September 13, 2007 in New York. She was 71 years old.
