James A. Robinson passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at his residence. He was 82 years old. Jim was born on July 5, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas to James Forrest and Nellie Adeline (Redmon) Robinson. On September 18, 1954, James married Ethel Louis (Buntt) in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They would have been married 62 years this September 18th.
Jim was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX where he excelled in sports during his teenage years, especially baseball and boxing. During this period he became a golden gloves boxer and semi-professional baseball player. During his professional baseball stint, he travelled to Ponca City in 1954 and met the love of his life, Ethel Buntt, in which he married later that year. Jim loved everything that had to do with sports and the outdoors among them, baseball, boxing, golf, hunting, fishing, bowling, and noodling. He also loved watching his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids in all of their extra curricular activities, and they could always count on seeing him in the stands and rooting for them at all of their games. His grandkids loved to sit in the same chair as him and listen to his many adventures including shagging balls for Byron Nelson at Colonial, train robberies in Red Rock by the Dalton Gang, and the many famous baseball players that he played with over the years including Jackie Robinson. After his athletic careers ended, he worked at many places including General Motors, Midwest Creamery, and OG&E. He retired from OG&E after 30+ years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Grace Culver, and brother, Jimmy Robinson, and his beloved Min-Pin, Toby.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ethel of Ponca City, daughters, Nell Depperschmidt of Ponca City, Kathy Pappan and husband, Roger, of Ponca City, Son, Robbie Robinson and wife, Debbie, of Ponca City, sister-in-law, Faye Robinson of Toney, Alabama, four grandchildren, Tonja Holt and husband, Brandon, Chad Depperschmidt and wife, Tara, Crystal Robinson, and Trey Depperschmidt (Jennifer), great-grandchildren, Ryan and Dalton Turnipseed, Breanna Depperschmidt, and Caitlynn Robinson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
