Durant, OK - Isabel Maddux Robinson was born Saturday, November 8, 1924 in Negley, Texas to parents James Albert Maddux and Carmen McGuffee Maddux. Isabel entered into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from her home at the age of 98.
Isabel was raised in the east Texas area around Detroit and surrounding communities. She married Louis Johnston on June 8th, 1943 in Pampa, Texas. He precedes her in death. She would later marry Orville Robinson in June 1990 in Durant and he also precedes her in death. Isabel worked in the clerical department for several retail stores. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, tending to her flowers and doing her own yard work. Isabel also painted many portraits and paintings. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge for many years serving in many capacities within the lodge. Isabel attended the Calvary Baptist Church.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Eula Mae Rowan and Betty Jo Joseph; and brothers James Maddux and Remi Maddux.
She is survived by her brother, Tom Maddux of Mississippi; a son Louis Johnston and his wife, Melissa, of Hendrix, OK; step-sons Frankie Robinson of Blue, OK, and Dwight Robinson and his wife, Janette, of Durant; step-daughter Druann Martin and her husband, Tommy, of Florida; grandchildren Torri Johnston, Alyssa Burnet (Thomas), Clayton Johnston, and Charley Johnston; great-grandchildren Logan Johnston, Landri Sims, Zane Wright, and Sage Wright; great-great grandson Elijah Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate Isabel’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 26, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Roger Speers officiating.
