Ernest Arthur Robinson

Ernest Arthur Robinson
October 7, 1943 ~ March 1, 2020

Ernest Arthur Robinson, 76, passed from this life on March 1, 2020, at his home outside Cleveland, Oklahoma. Born on October 7, 1943, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Ernie is the son of Roy Arthur and Rosanna Griffin Robinson. During his childhood, he worked on the family farm. Graduating with the Cleveland High School Class of 1961, Ernie furthered his education at Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, then Oklahoma State University. He spent 36 years at Sheffield Steel in Sand Springs where he retired as the mill wright supervisor. On June 8, 1990, Ernie married his soulmate, Sandra Chronic, whom he would celebrate almost 30 years together.

Ernie was a man of faith who prayed daily. Family was of paramount importance as he was a provider and caretaker for many. His family described him as trustworthy, a man of his word, and a person with great integrity. Even after retirement, Ernie kept busy working outside. He took pride in maintaining his yard and enjoyed growing a garden. In his free time, Ernie would venture to the family cabin at Grand Lake around the Disney area. He also enjoyed road trips with his best friend, Sandra. He liked a good steak and eating dinner at Freddie’s Steakhouse in Mannford. In his younger days, Ernie liked to dance, play in a dart league, and enjoy a game of pool. Ernie was a big football fan who never missed an OU game. He was happy to see his favorite NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs, win the Super Bowl this year.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Sandra, and his five sons, Andrew Scott Robinson, Russell Ray Robinson, Kelley Don Robinson, Reade LaRay Dowda and his wife Yada, and King Arthur Robinson. He also has four grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, stepmother Myra Robinson; three sisters, and two brothers.

Ernie wished to be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma. An online guestbook for Ernie is available at www.chapman-black.com.
