John Mathis Roberts was born August 31, 1864 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and died January 24, 1947 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

His wife, Mary "Lizzie" Elizabeth Sutton Roberts was born December 1,1867 in Morrilton, Arkansas and died January 1, 1943 in Wetumka, Oklahoma.

John Mathis Roberts is the brother of Dulcina Graves. All of these Roberts are kin to Oral Roberts. Bertha Graves Andrews and Oral's Roberts' Dad, Ellis Roberts, were 1st cousins.
