Fred Roberts, age 71 of Purcell, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 28, 2020. Freddy Everett Roberts was born October 6, 1948 in Lawrence, KS, the older of 2 children born to Charles Edward and Margaret Roanna (Sales) Roberts. He was raised in Kansas City where he attended school, graduating from Washington High School with the Class of 1966.
Fred answered the call to serve, as a member of the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country. He loved anything and everything to do with airplanes, and this led to a long and prosperous career. Fred retired as Crew Chief from American Airlines in 2006.
He was the proud father of two children, son Tim and daughter Jenny. He later married Debbie Cunningham Denton and welcomed her sons, Charlie and Eric as his own.
Fred was an avid gun collector. In his younger years, he entertained the racing world as he followed his dream of driving a race car. His later years consisted of tinkering on his old truck, spending countless hours building it exactly how he wanted.
He cherished Debbie and his kids, and was so very proud of his grandkids. Fred never cared much for coffee, and yet he met with his coffee buddies nearly every morning to discuss things. He will be dearly missed!
