Dr. David Lee Roberts passed away early Sunday morning March 4, 2012. He was born on June 29th 1936 to Marvin Winston Roberts and Minnie Lou Allen Roberts.
He graduated from Muskogee Central High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Physics and Math at Northeastern University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and taught Chemistry and Math at a High School in Turley, Oklahoma. Later he attended Oklahoma State University while teaching and received a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. Then he pursued a Doctorate Degree from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.
He worked with the Government for almost 30 years and retired from the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1995.
He loved his family. David was an experienced marksman and archer. He looked forward to poker night with his good friends, loved to read, and loved anything sweet and a good movie. He liked collecting, buying, selling and trading antiques as well. David was an active member of the Class of 55 Muskogee Central High School. He was also an active member of Boulevard Christian Church and the Back Pack Program.
David is survived by his wife Patricia Gail Roberts and his children, Forest Scott Roberts, Kathryn Lucinda Clark, Sawney Lea Huckabay and Gary Andrew Garrison. He has six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and bonus kids.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Boulevard Christian Church with Mr. James McCracken officiating.
Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dickson Cemetery in Cherokee, Arkansas.
Friends may wish to remember David by making memorials to the Back Pack Program at Boulevard Christian Church, 1700 W. Shawnee, Muskogee, OK 74401.
