Alan went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2022, in Enid, OK, at the age of 77 years. Alan was born in Enid, OK, to Roy and Dortha Roberts.
He graduated from Enid High School and went to college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. Alan was married twice, first to Saundra Sweet, and they had daughter Ginger. His second marriage was to Janie Newell, and they had sons Mike and Chris. He retired from Great Lakes Carbon Plant in Kremlin after working there for over 40 years.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leroy Roberts, sister Anita Woodruff and brother-in-law Phillip Woodruff. He is survived by his children: daughter Ginger (John) Massey, grandchildren John Massey Jr., Kelley Massey and great-granddaughter Emma of Mountain View, AR, granddaughter Laura (Kelson) Peoples and great-grandchildren Bristol, Lilly, Adelaide and Reece of Edmond, OK, and Cody (Zoe) Thornburgh and great-granddaughter Clover of Woodward, OK; sons Michael (Joanne) Roberts, grandchildren Parker and Sydney Roberts of Seminole, OK, and Chris Roberts, grandchildren Baylee Roberts of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Trenton Roberts of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by sister-in-law Liz Hensley, nephews Tim (Pam) Roberts, Paul (Lisa) Roberts, Byron (Kathryn) Woodruff and Barry (Julie) Woodruff, and good friends from his community and across Oklahoma.
Alan was an avid bowler and still played in leagues each season. He loved camping and fishing with friends and family, loved to ride his motorcycles and was active in the Oklahoma motorcycle community. Most of all Alan loved to spend time with his kids and was a very proud Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Alan's memory to the American Cancer Society or another charity organization of your choosing.
The family will host a celebration of life on April 9th at The Bike Shop, 2521 East Chestnut Avenue, Enid, OK, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. At 1 p.m. we will give people the opportunity to say a few words about Alan. It is an informal come-and-go event, so dress comfortable. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs and cornhole games. Please bring a side food item, a camp chair and your favorite beverage and join us to celebrate the life of Alan Roberts.
