George Michael “Mike” Roach

George Michael Roach, “Mike” age 64, of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday evening April 7, 2026 at Grace Living Center in Mangum following a lengthy illness.

Mike was born in Mangum, Oklahoma, on May 5, 1960, to George and Peggy Roach. He attended school in Mangum and graduated from Mangum High School in 1979. In 1980, Mike married Kim Crowe and they made their home in Mangum for the next several years. During this time Mike worked at various places including John Deere, Allis Chalmers, operated his own sign painting business, owned and operated Lincoln Street Barbell Club and Mikes Place. In 1985, Mike was offered a position as a cook at Mangum Public Schools and this led to his cooking career that lasted the next 20 years. In 1990, Mike and Kim moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he was employed by Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel and then Belle Meade Golf and Country Club. Mike worked several years as the Executive Sous Chef at Belle Meade Country Club before moving back to Oklahoma in 2013. Mike worked for one year in the oil and gas industry and then returned to Mangum in 2014. Mike began working at Mangum Regional Hospital where he worked until 2023.

Mike was known for his wonderful sense of humor and great stories that kept everyone laughing the whole time they were around him. He was always up for any adventure; which he always survived and walke away with another great story to tell. Mike enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and building and racing remote control cars. A hobby that he still enjoyed until he was no longer able. He was a lover of all things spicy, anything chocolate, puzzles, pocket knives, good ol’ blues music and a trip to the movies any chance he could get. He was also an incredible and creative cook and loved to leave folks filled and happy.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents George and Peggy Roach.

He is survived by two children, Misty Johnson and Rachel McPherson and Shawn of Elk City. Kim Hass of Elk City. Brother Jeffery Roach and wife Jana of Franklin, Tennessee; and sister Georganna Lively and husband Micky of Mangum; grandchildren Logan Johnson, Jace Johnson, Ciarra Johnson, and Harley and Kelton Scheidemantel of Elk City; great-grandchildren, Adriel Estrada, Adalyn Johnson, and Addox Johnson; nieces and nephews Bennett Roach, Saylor Roach, and Marina Roach of Franklin, Tennessee; Lauren Lively and Eric Harris of Oklahoma City; and Madilynn Lively of Guthrie along with other relatives, and numerous friends.
