Cid R. Rivas, 79 ascended into heaven on July 1, 2006, in Wichita Falls, TX. Viewing for family and friends will be held in Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home at Crestview Memorial Park from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the 4th of July.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home in Wichita Falls., officiating Minister Ronnie Nowell.
Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial in Wichita Falls, TX. Pall bearers will be Ryland Rivas II, Nick Plata, Joe Plata, Domingo Plata, Jr., Robert Jones, and Tom Simmons.
Honorary pall bearers are Lewis Rivas and Patrick Bryson Pennington.
Cid was born February 25, 1927, to John Roger and Pautrice Rivas in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
He married Mattie Lee Garrett on September 7, 1945 in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Cid served his country through the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne.
Cid and Mattie explored the United States while he worked for a seismograph company as a surveyor and party manager.
In later years, Cid demonstrated his love and devotion to his Comanche heritage through language and cultural preservation classes.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, siblings Johnny Michael (brother), Cross (brother), Benita LaGrange (sister), one niece, and two nephews.
He is survived by his loving wife Mattie Rivas; daughters Patty Jones (husband Robert), Candice Tabenanika; siblings Elizabeth Walton (sister), Charlotte Morris (sister), Lewis Rivas (wife Sylvia) (brother), Mary Plata (sister), Tommie Rivas (sister); grandchildren Patrick Pennington (wife Traci), Marina Simmons (husband Tom), Lynn Clopton (husband Ashley), Cid Murray; 7 great grandchildren and 13 nephews and nieces. Tributes may be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls and the American Cancer Society.
