Nita Rittenhouse, 78 year old Woodward resident, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Woodward. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Josh Brooks officiating.
Beulah Vernetta (Bacon) Rittenhouse was born December 27, 1943 to Verdner "Gene" Bacon and Beulah Marie (Walker) Donley in Woodward, Oklahoma. Nita grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward schools until the ninth grade. She then moved to Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City High School in 1961. She then attended Beauty School and graduated in 1962.
Nita worked at Sharpe's Department Store in Elk City as the store manager. Nita loved raising her children and working at the Food Pantry in Elk City after she retired from Sharpe's. She often enjoyed ceramics, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards.
She was part of the Elk City Rotary Club and the Woodward Homemaker Club.
Nita is survived by her son, Jeff Franks and wife Paula of Cherokee; brothers, Larry Bacon of Waco, Texas; Kyle Donley of Waynoka; four sisters, Paula Harmon and husband Jerry of Woodward; Patti Welch of Woodward; Sherri Smith and husband Bill of Galva, Kansas; Doris Ann Beaney and husband Rex of Andover, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Devon Franks Mitchell of Chabron, Nebraska; Josh Franks of Nederland, Texas; Curtis Emberson of Wichita, Kansas; Kalei Creswell and husband Cody of Laverne; Kelby Franks and girlfriend Melanie Macias of Weatherford; Brayden Nixon and Monica McClung of May; Christopher Franks of Shattuck; and Christina Franks of Shattuck; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Kellie Franks, father and step-mother Gene and Dee Bacon, mother and step-father Beulah and Homer Donley, and nephew, Brent Luckett.
