November 18, 1928 ~ October 12, 2020

Lawrence F. Rippe, 91, died peacefully at home in Newkirk, Okla., Monday, Oct. 12, 2020.

A small private memorial service will be held later, with Reverend Mark Mozeik officiating.

Lawrence was born November 18, 1928 to William and Martha Rippe in Byron, Nebraska. His family relocated to Grainola, Oklahoma when he was a young boy and on to Arkansas City, KS in 1948 where Lawrence farmed for the remainder of his life. Lawrence loved farming and kept hard at work throughout his late 80’s. He was usually accompanied in the tractor by his two rat terrier farm buddies, Boomer and Moe. When he wasn’t farming, Lawrence enjoyed playing cards with friends, and doing carpentry work like making custom bookshelves and doll houses. Lawrence married Leola Oestmann in October 1954, in Chelsea, Oklahoma. They would have had their 66th wedding anniversary in just a few weeks. The couple had two sons and a beautiful life together. Lawrence was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, brother Louis, sister Helen and twin sister Florence.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Leola of the home, son Randall and wife Margaret of Arkansas City, Kansas, son Maynard and wife Lori of Republic, Missouri. His grandchildren, Rachel Hoover of Columbia, Missouri, Andrew and wife Debbie of Rose Hill, Kansas, David and wife Mariah of Arkansas City, Kansas. Also mourning their “Great-Grandpa” are Alana Hoover, Preslee Grindstaff, Caroline Rippe, Oliver Rippe, Adler Rippe, Brody Rippe and his baby brother due in February. He will be missed dearly by numerous nieces and nephews as well.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Organ Fund. P.O. Box 290 Newkirk, Oklahoma 74647
