A celebration of life honoring John Patrick Riley, 44, will be held Monday, October 28, 2013, at 4:00 pm at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St. Norman, Oklahoma. John passed away Monday, September 23, 2013.
John was born on June 19, 1969, in Wichita Falls, Texas. At five days old Jim and Sharon Riley adopted him. John grew up in Norman and graduated from Norman High School in 1987. He married Jennifer Renee' Kirby on July 24, 1999. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2000, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems from the Price College of Business.
John's professional life was in the Information Technology division with Nextel and Sprint in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Norman, Oklahoma. John received numerous commendations for achievement and the Circle of Excellence Award recognizing top employees for Sprint in October, 2010.
John was an avid golfer and treasured the annual trips to Pinehurst, Texas and Phoenix with his dad and golf buddies. He spent years skiing, camping, fishing, anything outdoors. He loved his family dearly, especially watching his children play basketball, baseball and soccer.
John Riley is preceded in death by his grandparents O.B. (Bud) and Sylvia Brooks, Charles and Grace Riley, and his mother Sharon Riley. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, his two sons Grant and Jake, his father and mom Jim and Sally Riley, his sister Susan and her husband Dr. Jim Love, and numerous relatives and friends.
In memory of John, the family has established an Educational Fund for Grant and Jake Riley at any Republic Bank and Trust location and can be mailed to 12oo East Lindsay Street, Norman, OK 73071 or a contribution may be made to Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center, P.O. Box 400, Norman, OK 73070, attention Lydia Hilton.
In honor of John, those attending his service are welcomed to wear OU or Dallas Cowboy apparel.
