Judith Ann (Sweeney) Riggs

Judith Ann (Sweeney) Riggs
December 18, 1947 ~ May 2, 2021

Judith Ann (Sweeney) Riggs, 73, of Macomb passed away at her home on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Judi was the youngest of eleven children born to Hamilton Carlisle and Ethel Vernell (Gilbert) Sweeney on December 18, 1947, in Henderson County, Texas.

Throughout her childhood Judi developed a strong work ethic by working alongside her family in the cotton fields of East Texas. Those experiences forged a strong love of family, which she held throughout her life.

Judi married Richard Riggs on January 31, 1963. The next forty years would take them on an adventure that exceeded all of their hopes and dreams, with no adventure greater than the birth of their three children Rick in December 1963, Sonja in November 1965, and Laurie in September 1969. Their adventures took them around the country with stops in Edgewood, TX, Bear Lake, UT, Anaheim, CA, St. Louis, MO, and Dallas, Tx. However, they would make their forever home in Macomb, OK, in 1974.

Judi worked at Award Design Medals, Shaklee, and Astellas. She made lifelong friendships that she treasured. Judi and Richard became “Granny & PaPa” in August, 1984. They would be “Granny & Papa” to eight grand-children and nine great-grandchildren. Judi loved to travel and live for the moment with her best-friend, Richard. She enjoyed Nascar with her brother Larry, and loved to tell stories about her family. She felt telling stories was important for us to know where we came from. Above all she loved her family. Judi was a wonderful wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed.

We would also like to thank Darlene Brummett and Tori Annanders for the love and support they have shown not only Judi, but our family.

Judi Riggs is preceded in death by: Parents: Carlisle Sweeney, Ethel Vernell Lewis; Husband: Richard Riggs; Daughter: Sonja Boston and Son in Law: Carl Boston.

Judi is survived by her son Rick Riggs & Wife Le Gay of Wanette, OK; daughter Laurie Bacon & Husband Danny of Wilsonville, OR; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Services for Judi Riggs will be at Lakeside Church of God in Norman, OK on May 7, 11:00 am. Graveside services will be at Small Cemetery in Edgewood, Texas on May 8, 4:00 pm.
