Cora Jane Bohannan Riggins was born May 6, 1939 in Plainview, Texas to Jesse and Lucile Bohannan. She received a BA degree from Southern Nazarene University in 1961, attended Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1977-78, and earned a Master of Religion degree from Iliff School of Theology in 1982.
She married Ulf “Kris” Kristoffersen on June 23, 1961, and they had two beloved children, Carol Lucile and David Ulf. They were active in the pastoral ministry for many years. Jane also was a writer and published over 30 inspirational articles for Nazarene and Wesleyan periodicals. In addition, she taught school for several years, and more recently, was employed by Focus on the Family for almost 12 years. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at age six, and her greatest passion was to serve the Lord and the Church of the Nazarene. She was an ordained elder in the church was always active in many phases of the ministry. As a teenager, she chose Matthew 6:33 as her life Scripture verse: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” As an adult, she added 1 Timothy 1:5: “The goal of this command is love, which comes for a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and seven older siblings, Florence Daniel, Hazel Parris, Luther Bohannan, Wilmon Bohannan, Aldean Peck, Joe Bohannan, and Earl Bohannan. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Kristoffersen of Denver, CO; son, David Kristoffersen of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Christopher, Noelle, and Nicole; brothers, Charles Bohannan of OKC, Grady Bohannan of OKC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 22, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Childress Cemetery, Childress, TX.
