Vera (Kauk) Riedl

June 8, 1905 ~ August 26, 1988

Funeral services for Vera Kauk Riedl, 83, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 1988 at the Community Federated Church in Thermopolis with Rev. Dan Molyneux officiating.

Mrs. Riedl died August 26, 1988 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was born June 8, 1905 in Butler, Oklahoma to Christian and Magdalena Trost Kauk.

She came to Thermopolis from Oklahoma to work for relatives at Hot Springs State Park.

She married Joseph Riedl on December 8, 1941, at Billings, Montana. They ranched in Hot Springs County until 1967, at which time they sold the ranch and moved into Thermopolis to live.

Mr. Riedl died in 1977.

She was an active member of the Community Federated Church, B.P.O. Does, American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge #19.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by one son, Harley "Bud" of Thermopolis; five brothers, Albert Kauk of California; Emil, Lee and Delbert Kauk of Leedey, Oklahoma; and L. D. Kauk of Louisiana; three sisters, Ruth Robinson and Bernice Carter of Leedey, Oklahoma; and Doris Rhoades of California; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Eileen Darrow and three brothers.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials to the Community Federated Church will be appreciated by the family.

Mortimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
