James Leon Richardson, 67, entered into eternal life, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas.
Leon was born Thursday, August 28, 1943 in Durant, Oklahoma to Leon Roosevelt "Shorty" and Vera Mae Smithey Richardson.
He married the love of his life, Wanda Joyce Henson on September 19, 1974. They were together for 37 years until his death.
Leon graduated from Durant High School in 1961.
He worked for Hitchcock Industries as a lead. He retired from Independent Bank of Denison, Texas. Leon was a member of Trinity Lighthouse Church.
Mr. Richardson enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was an Oklahoma Sooners fan, Dallas Cowboys fan and a fan of golf.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Richardson of Denison, Texas; daughter, Mary Verzi of Denison, Texas; son, Gary Brewer and wife Crystal of Denison, Texas; daughter, Tammy Thompson and husband David of Bonham, Texas; daughter, Lisa Bowels of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; son, James Richardson, Jr. of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Derek Verzi of Bells, Texas, Dillon Verzi of Bells, Texas, Cody Hughes of Denison, Texas, Chase Hughes of Denison, Texas, Jonathan Brewer of Denison, Texas, Nicholas Brewer of Denison, Texas, Madison West of Denison, Texas, Hunter Thompson of Bonham, Texas, Dustin Bowles of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Trevor Bowels of El Dorado Spring, Missouri; sisters, Shirley Luton of Princeton, Texas, Diane Shults and husband Ronnie of Bokchito, Oklahoma; brother, Charles Richardson; sister, June Brown and husband Melvin of Park City, Kansas; brother, Kenneth Richardson and wife Cindy of Bangs, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, "Shorty" and Vera Richardson, Opal Lee Griswold; son, Calvin Wayne Richardson; sisters, Opal Ray Richardson and Thelma Marie Langston; brothers-in-law, Choice Ray Henson, Glen Dale Langston and Clifford Edward Luton.
A memorial service for Mr. Richardson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Chapel at 121 N. 5th Avenue in Durant, Oklahoma with Pastor Raymond England officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Denison, Texas with Chase Hughes, Cody Hughes, Gary Hess, John Mosley, T. J. Grigg, Albert Armor and Derek Verzi serving as pallbearers.
Family hour will be 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
