Randall (Randy) Joe Rice passed from this life on December 1, 2024 at the age of 67 in Cleveland, OK. Randy was born on June 7, 1957 in Tulsa. Randy was the son of Lloyd Rice and Margie Rice (Smith).
Randy attended school in Tulsa and Sand Springs, graduating in 1975. After an initial career as a professional commercial painter, he decided in his 30s to go to college and become an English teacher. He first attended OSU, and then transferred to NSU because of their English program.
Randy was united in marriage to Dee Rice (Hensley) on May 13, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They always said they went together like peas and carrots, and every Friday the 13th they would wish each other a happy anniversary.
Randall worked as an English teacher for approximately 25 year in Tulsa, and after retirement he started working part-time as a substitute teacher for Sand Springs. His favorite place to sub was the alternative high school, Page Academy, mainly because he could relate to the students due to his younger days when he was known as Renegade. Randy was so grateful to God for releasing him from his addictions on August 23, 1989, and recently celebrated 35 years clean and sober. He also became a pastor because of the great work God did in him, and he wanted to share that with others.
He was also an avid reader, musician, and watched the news like clockwork.
Survivors are wife Dee Rice of Cleveland, son Bret Rice and wife Kristy of Sand Springs, daughter Lacey Rice of Tulsa, stepson Brian Hines and wife Dianna of Tulsa, grandsons Daniel Rice and wife Mackenzie of Tulsa and Benjamin Rice of Tulsa, granddaughter Everlea Rice of Sand Springs, and many other loving family and friends.
Randall was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Rice, his mother Margie Rice, and his oldest daughter Malinda Rice.
