Harold George Rice, 87, of Jones, passed away on Aug. 6, 2009 after a tenacious battle with lung cancer. He was born Feb. 22, 1922 in OKC to Walter and Lillie Rice.
Harold was a WWII marine veteran. His many vocations led to life long friendships in various locations, including Bordens, Daily Oklahoman, where he helped shape boys into men, Nichols Hills Police Dept, Rice Realty, Stuckeys, and Plains Chevrolet of Amarillo.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, wives Justine of Amarillo, TX and Ruth of Jones, brothers Lloyd and Al, and sisters Fay and Florence.
Survivors include his daughter Doniece Herring of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Cary and wife Robyn, Cathy and husband Don of Amarillo, TX, Dwayne and wife Robin of Ft. Worth, TX; great grandchildren: Seth and Brett of Amarillo, TX and Grand Boy, Josh Jacquemin of the home; sister-in-law, Donna Rice of Blue Springs, MO, numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends; as well as his pets FiFi, Smoky, Boots and Michael.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Excell Hospice nurses, social worker and chaplain for their compassion and loving care.
