Paul Edward Rhodes, 70, departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 15, 1947 with his twin brother, Charles, to parents, Joseph and Meady Rhodes and older sister, Mary.
He spent his early years in Coweta before the family relocated to Broken Arrow. After graduating from Broken Arrow High School in 1967, Paul attended Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Forestry. After college he began his lifelong career at the City of Broken Arrow where he started out as a meter reader and retired 39 years later in 2012 as Utilities Director. In his retirement, he enjoyed serving weekly at the Manna House, a local food pantry ministry.
Paul married the love of his life, Patty (Henry) Rhodes, on June 7, 1975, six months to the day after their first date. Together they raised four children: Sheila, Troy, Paula and Robin.
Paul was a devoted follower of Christ and a member of Broken Arrow Church of the Nazarene for 42 years. For many years he served on the church board helping with the finance committee, served as NYI president for a time, was in charge of counting tithes and offerings, ran the sound board, worked as a greeter, and hosted a weekly small group in their home. He especially loved being a part of various work and witness trips and supporting the work of the Church around the globe. His spiritual gifts were giving and serving. Often at Christmas he would go and buy groceries for families in need, anonymously dropping bags on the porches of those families.
Paul loved the outdoors: deer hunting, fishing, camping, and raising his own vegetable garden. He was an avid archer and was involved in archery clubs where he won many awards in his younger years. In his spare time, he could often be found in his garage or shop where he made and sold bows and enjoyed woodworking.
Paul loved his family and was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patty; twin brother, Charles Rhodes; sister, Mary McGaha; daughter, Sheila and husband Alan Mauldin; son, Troy and wife Lea; daughter, Paula and husband Alan Farley; daughter, Robin and husband Ryan Lasarsky; grandchildren: Megan Baisden and husband Lenvil; Tiffany Graham and husband Jed; Jessica Ward; Madelyn and Hannah Farley; Emma and Lily Rhodes; Reilly and Nettie Lasarsky; and great-grandson, Gunnison Graham.
