Verna JoAnn Rhodd
July 4, 1955 ~ October 4, 2022 (age 67)

Verna JoAnn Rhodd passed away on October 4, 2022 at her home in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was born July 14, 1955 and reached the age of 67. Verna was born to Vernon Louis Rhodd Sr. and Barbara Lee (Roy) Rhodd in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Verna was raised by her two grandmothers Theadosia Little Standing Buffalo Roberson and Aline Little Standing Buffalo Roy up until she went off to Chilocco.

Verna graduated in 1973 from Chilocco Indian School, then chose to go onto Northern Oklahoma College where she studied business. Later she also attended the Ponca City Vo-Tech where she studied for Medical Secretary/Assistant.

Verna enjoyed watching professional basketball when she was younger, playing bingo in White Eagle and going to the casinos with her sisters. Her greatest of enjoyment of all was the company of all her nieces and nephews and getting time to play with her grandbabies. She encouraged each one of her nieces, nephews, and older grandchildren to better their lives by education. She was very proud of each and every one of them.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Lemuel Rhodd Sr., and Iva Little Standing Buffalo Rhodd. Also preceding her in death were her loving parents Vernon Rhodd Sr. and Barbara Roy Rhodd. Siblings Vernon Louis Rhodd Jr., and Elaine Dorise Rhodd, niece Shannon Lynn Rhodd Cerre and grandson Marcus Martinez.

Leaving behind to mourn her loss and cherish each memory of her is her grandmother Estelline Little Standing Buffalo, her sisters Patricia Roy and her children Ulyssa, John, Marlon and Jeffrey Roy all of Ponca City, sister Barbara Rhodd and her children Daveena, Lindsey, Randi and Matthew Wilson of Ponca City, Angela (John) Thornton and their children Tara, Crystal and Robert (Taylor) Thornton, all of Ponca City, sister Iva Rhodd and her children Jesse and Miranda King and her daughter Delilah all of Tonkawa OK, and sister Mary (Rene) Mendia and their children Seth LeClair of Ark City and Ty LeClair of Ponca City. Also leaving behind a nephew, son of her late brother Vernon Rhodd Jr., Connor (Brittany) Rhodd of Ponca City and Randolph Rhodd of Ark City, KS along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

A viewing for Verna will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 10am to 5pm at Grace Memorial Chapel.
