On the afternoon of March 26, 2021, Carolyn passed from this life surrounded by family and her nursing staff family at Golden Oaks Nursing Center in Enid, Oklahoma. Carolyn was 71 years old and had called Golden Oaks her home since 2014.
Carolyn was born to Bill and Nelda Fowler on December 24, 1949 in Electra, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of their three girls. The Fowlers moved to Medford, Oklahoma in the early sixties where she finished school, graduating with the MHS class of 1968. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Steve, about a year after graduation. They later divorced but remained friends throughout her lifetime.
She enjoyed a diverse administrative career working many years for the Social Security Administration, as well as the University of Tulsa and Rogers State University. Carolyn was an outdoor girl at heart and loved working in her yard and gardening. Baking was her love language and her New York style cheesecakes were second to none. There was not a flavor she hadn't mastered from key lime to red velvet and everything in between you could imagine or request.
She cherished spending time with her family and was just generally a people lover by nature. She grew up worshipping in the Church of Christ and was a member of North Garland Church of Christ in Enid, Oklahoma. She even had a stint as a Joy Bus song leader in Wichita, Kansas, where she met and married her second husband, Arnie Reith.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nelda Fowler. She is survived by her sisters, Marilyn Hasler and Nancy Williams; her first husband, Steve, children David Reneau (wife Amy), and Mary Downing (husband Kevin); her second husband, Arnie, daughter Megan Conrady (husband Corey); twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes of NW Oklahoma. Carolyn's family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the nursing staff of Golden Oaks, the nursing staff of the PCCU at Saint Mary's hospital, and Dr. Samantha Moery for the excellent and loving care they have provided to her over the years.
