Modesto Regalado, age 78 of Purcell, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016. Modesto was born June 15, 1938 in Santa Maria, Mexico, 1 of 16 children born to Felix Regalado and Maria Luisa (Losoya) Regalado. He was raised in Mexico before moving to the United States at age 17.
He spent time between Texas and Oklahoma, and mainly worked at horse farms. Horses were always a big part of his life. Modesto was an excellent trainer and spent many years breaking horses. He married Maria Ramirez and to this union, 4 children: sons, Isaias and Javier and daughters, Maria and Marta were born. In 1979, Modesto moved to Purcell and began working at area horse farms as a trainer. In 1984, he married a local girl, Belinda Raines and they have called Purcell home ever since. For Modesto, it was always about his family. He loved spending holidays with anyone who could come. He looked forward to the Rush Springs Watermelon festival every year and sharing cantaloupes and melons with his family and friends. For the last 8 years, he and Belinda have raised their nephew, Kris Welch, and Modesto accepted that role willingly. He was a wonderful father and husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and true friend. He will be dearly missed!
He joins his family in passing: His wife, Belinda Regalado; His parents; Felix and Maria Regalado and Siblings, Manuel Regalado, Isidro Regalado, Mauro Regalado, Benigna Regalado, Petra Regalado, Maria de la Paz Regalado, Maria de la Luz Regalado and Tia Santo Regalado.
Modesto leaves behind: His children; Maria Esparza and husband Harold of Purcell, Marta Herrera and husband Juan of Purcell, Isaias Regalado of Purcell and Javier Regalado of Mexico; 5 sisters, Maria De Jesus Regalado of Mexico, Maria De los Angeles Regalado of Mexico, Rosa Mmaria Regalado of San Antonio, TX, Natividad Regalado of Mexico and Marta Regalado Marrero of Odessa, TX; 2 brothers, Elisea Regalado and wife Olga of Odessa, TX and Felix Regalado and wife Sophia of Odessa, TX; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; Nephew, Kristopher Welch of the home and A host of other family and friends.
