Barbara Ellen Reeves, 79 year-old Marietta, OK resident, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, after an automobile accident. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023, in the Gilliland Baptist Church in Gilliland, TX with Pastor Johnny Emery officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Gilliland Cemetery in Gilliland, TX. Services have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
Barbara began this life on February 22, 1944, in Bendavis, MO, the daughter of Walter and Alma (Curtner) Shelley. She worked for General Electric while she was living in the Springfield, MO area. Later, as life took her to a new location, Barbara worked for and retired from Owens Corning in Amarillo, TX. On November 18, 2005, she married David Randall “Randy” Reeves in Las Vegas, NV. The two shared more than 17 years together.
Over the years, Barbara began each day reading her Bible. From time to time, you might find her working a crossword puzzle or talking someone’s ear off on the telephone. One daily ritual she had was watching Days of Our Lives on the television. She was a huge Professional Bull Riders fan and loved watching J.W. Hart at many of those PBR events. Barbara was a member of the Cooke County Cowboy Church in Gainesville, TX and cherished so many of the relationships she found there. Many things brought Barbara joy and happiness, but perhaps the one thing that made her light up more than anything else was getting to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Melvin, Lee, Ronnie, Charles, and Tommy; and sisters, Myrtle, Norma, Betty, Faye, Verna, and Billie.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Randy; sons, Johnathan Lane Emery and wife Martha of Cabool, MO and Chester Lynn Huffman and wife Deborah of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Penny Lee Wilson of Sullivan, MO; step-daughters, Dana Elaine Schmitt and husband Justin of San Antonio, TX and Amy Jean Thayer and husband Mike of Tulsa, OK; brother, Dennis Shelley of Cabool; sisters, Pat Martin of Aurora, MO, Lorene Crewse of Hartville, MO, and Clara Mickey Chronister of Cabool; 16 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
A video keepsake is available through the funeral home.
