Vada Lorraine (Wilhite) Howard Reed

May 30, 1918 ~ February 16, 2008

Vada Lorraine Wilhite Howard Reed was born on May 30, 1918, in Odell, Arkansas to Oscar Franklin Wilhite and Lucy Rosetta West Wilhite. She was the third of eleven children.

She passed from this life on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Vada grew up in the small communities of Odell, Morrow and Cane Hill, AR.

On September 25, 1936, she married Leonard Luther (Bob) Howard. From this union were born; Wilma Lorraine, and Pamela Sue. She was married to Bob for 35 years before his passing in 2006.

Vada was a homemaker and cherished her role as a wife and mother. She enjoyed going to church, keeping her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sewing, gardening, canning and yard sales.

Worshiping the Lord was very important to Vada. She attended church several nights a week, singing specials and testifying of the Lord's goodness to her. She considered her home church to be Faith Holiness, south of Westville, OK.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; Leonard Howard and Havie Reed. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Theodore Wilhite, Velma Jetton, Arlie Wilhite, Lawrence Wilhite, Lester Wilhite, Burl Wilhite, Nadine Heuitt, Elizabeth Wilhite and Bonnie Janway.

She is survived by a loving family that includes daughters; Wilma Overturf, and Pamela Stephens and husband Bert, granchildren; Debra Wilson and husband Jay, Dwayne Eagleton and wife Tammy, Greg Eagleton and wife Kim, Philip Stephens and wife Shanda, Penny Merideith and husband Steve, 9 great grandchildren and 23 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Audie Vaughan and Bro. Bill Wakley officiating.

Interment followed at Bethesda Cemetery in Washinton County, Arkansas under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville, OK.
