A graveside service for Ray H. Reed, 78, of Columbus, Ga., was 3:30 p.m. April 20, 2007, in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus. Arrangements were by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, Colum-bus.
He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Canton to Charlie and Cleo Reed and died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Columbus Hospice House, Columbus.
He graduated from Canton High
in 1947. He enlisted in the Army, serving at Fort Riley, Kan.
He married Vivian Cochran in 1950. They moved to Columbus following his discharge where he lived until his death. He attended Fairview Baptist Church and was a member of, Scottish Rite and Columbus/Fort Benning Shrine Club.
Surviving are one son, Steven Reed of Columbus; one daughter, Kathy East of Cameron, Texas; two sisters, Ora V. Rooker of Canton and Doris E. Johnson of Yukon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
