Mary Charlene (Putman) Reed, age 78, passed away on December 26, 2023. Mary was born in Madill, Oklahoma to George and Stella Putman on July 9, 1945. She attended and graduated from Madill Public Schools.
She married the love of her life Carl Jackson Reed on December 24, 1966, in Madill, Oklahoma.
Mary earned her bachelor’s in education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She went on to teach English at Kingston Public Schools for 28 years. She and her husband faithfully attended The Church of Christ of Kingston. Mary enjoyed reading books, camping, fishing, crocheting, and sitting on her back porch in her rocking chair watching her animals until the sun went down. Mary’s favorite thing was spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Stella Putman, and her parents-in-law Andy and Jesse Reed. Her sister Tricia Graves and her son Bob Reed.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Carl Jackson Reed of the home. And her sons Jack Reed and wife Toni Dawn of Tulsa, and Jay Don Reed and wife Jeanna of Madill. Donelle Kilgore of Ashdown, AR. Shelia and Chuck Tracy of Madill and Paulene McGlocklin of Tishomingo. Grandchildren: Ally, Tori, Kylee, Bryson, Tre, Cheyenne, McKenzie, Ajay, Kinsler. Great Grandchildren: Iris, Rylee, Cazzlee, Maggie, Axel, Myla, and Tally.
The family has chosen cremation and will host a Celebration of Mary’s life at The Madill Church of Christ, on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 at 1:30 PM.
