Marion and Gyneth moved to Midwest City in 1944. He went to work at Tinker Air Force Base and soon after established Reed's Tax Service. Under his leadership the funds for the development of Midwest City's first hospital were raised, the first Midwest City Library was started, as were the first swimming pools and golf courses. Marion was extremely proud of his role in building the current city hall complex. Marion took great pride in watching his son follow in his footsteps by becoming Mayor of the city he helped develop.
