Sammie Edward Reece

Sammie Edward Reece
August 12, 1944 ~ October 31, 2020

Born on August 12th, 1944 and being called to his eternal rest on October 31st, 2020 Sammie Edward Reece was 76 years old when he joined his family in the next step of our journey. His parents, Samuel Edward Reece and Idabel Golden along with his two sisters, Doreen and Lois have been waiting a long time to sit down to a family dinner.

After being married in 1979 in Gainesville, Texas to Emma Jean (Pfieff) Reece he spent 41 hard, but fulfilling and joyful years as a father. He will be mourned by Emma, and their children, Robert Allen and his wife Alicia, Their children Seth and KayeLee, Nathan Edward and his wife, Jennifer, Jonathan Adrian and his wife Autumn, along with their daughter Blakelynn, Thomas Ray, Alisha Dawn and her children, Leta and jack, and Christina Elizabeth(Cornett) with her husband Derek and their children, Serenity, Willow and Lynda.

If all the grains of sand of all the beaches of the Earth were words, there would not be half-enough language to offer tribute to all the lives he’s touched outside of his jealousy loved family, who claim the title of Friend of Sammie.

From his time on the road, to the 12 years he spent working for the Water Department of Pauls Valley, to his work for the Chickasaw Travel Stop where he spent these last years greeting new people, flirting mischievously with little old ladies, drinking coffee, and laughing.

Sammie traveled the length and breadth of the country, making friends wherever he stopped for more than a handful of minutes. In spite of his diminutive size, his laugh was deep, often, and resonating a happiness seldom expressed. He was easy to like, and hard to forget.

Sammie’s family has asked to mourn privately for now, but wishes to thank those who share their condolences, and will announce when a memorial celebration of a life so well-lived, so large, that it was like God was trying to prove that “Good things come in Small Packages” when He decided on Sammie. And anyone who knew him, can’t deny that they got the message loud and clear.
