A beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew and cousin, Kerry James Redmond, passed away December 28, 2015 at the Ponca City Hospital following a heart attack at the age of 61.
Kerry was born October 13, 1954 in Holdenville, OK. He attended schools in Holdenville, Cashion, and Ponca City where he graduated from high school. He early mastered the various forms of welding, learning first from his father, and spent his life redesigning, repairing and inventing numerous types of mechanical vehicles, gizmos and other apparatuses in a dozen fields of endeavor. He was a member of Local #430 Pipefitters and Plumbers and was top in his welding craft.
He was a master chef in the back yard and in the kitchen and celebrated every 4th of July with a BBQ feast and fireworks with a backyard full of family and friends; he built or rebuilt regular cars and kiddie cars, cycles, bikes, swimming pools, whiskey stills, oil furnaces, restaurant ovens and gadgets most of us could never know how to use, but he did. He ran through life at full speed, suffering painful physical injuries from numerous accidents that would have laid most men flat. The word "can't" was not in his vocabulary. He was often outwardly gruff and impatient but everyone knew he was a Teddy bear and that his greatest love was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie of the home at 206 South Flormable, Ponca City, son Chris and wife Lynn Swenson, Corey Swenson, and daughter Holly Redmond and husband Robin Campbell; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jack, and Jimmy Swenson; Kaelie, Nathan and Serenity Swenson; and Gavin Campbell; his parents Pat Muchmore of Clearwater, FL, and Eldon Redmond of Ponca City; two sisters, Kathryn Pruitt and husband Steve, nieces Melody Vieth and Amy Barnes and nephew Grant; and Darla Duncan and husband Pete and nephews Justin and Jarrod Duncan and niece Jamie Pogue; two uncles Robert and wife Roleta Noblett of Blackwell and cousin Chris; Kenneth and wife Jacqueline Noblett and cousins Shelly Noblett and Tracey Mehta of Orlando, FL; two aunts, Etta and husband Lawrence Elliott of Durant and cousins Debra, Mike and David; and Sherry Noblett of Oklahoma City. He will also be missed by many members of the Shaull family, including his mother in law Iris Shaull-Owensby, brothers in law Randy and Riley Shaull, and sister in law Vicki Ford and their families.
Kerry was preceded in passing by grandparents, Mennis and Olive Faye Noblett, and Tom and Pauline Redmond; father in law, Buster Shaull and Gareth Muchmore.
Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on January 29, 2016 in the American Legion. All friends and family are welcome.
