Virginia (Fish) Read

June 21, 1938 ~ October 28, 1996

Virginia Fish Read was born June 21, 1938 in Ft. Summer, New Mexico to Arvie Louise and Perry Fish and died Monday, October 28, 1996 in the Baptist Medical center at the age of 58.

Virginia grew up in Beckham and Roger Mills County before moving with her family in the 1950's to Amarillo, Texas. They lived in Amarillo until 1967 when they moved to Thomasboro, Illinois. In 1982 they moved to San Antonio, Texas until Bob's retirement in January of 1993 when they moved to Elk City to make their home.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Bob of the home; one daughter, Debra Read of Rantoul, Illinois; one son, Russ and Liz Read of Champaign, Illinois; three sisters, Patsy Varnell of Sayre; Lauwonia Ford and Roxie Broyles both of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Stanley Fish of Sayre; J. W. Fish of Meeker, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Nathan, Carrie, Jenna, Rebecca, Andy, and Jamie; and a host of relatives and friends.

Ashes scattered over Lake Havasu Bay.

Services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Whinery-Savage Chapel officiated by Rod Minor. Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.

Memorial placed at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma.
