Billy Joe Ray departed this life on October 22, 2014 at his home in Hugo, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Bill was 59 years of age.

Bill was born July 15, 1955 in Bonham, TX to Walter Smith Ray (Red) and Louise Crain Ray. The family moved to Choctaw County when Bill was very young. He married Karen Luna on October 15, 1975. Most of Bill's adult life has been spent in Choctaw County.

Bill's career path was as a railroad employee. He began when the local railroad was Frisco Railroad and continued with Burlington Northern and Kiamichi Railroad. Bill also worked several years for Moorman Mfg. Company as a District Manager. His hobbies were horse related, steer wrestling as a young man, and in recent years, helping young men learn the sport. Horse shoeing was his side job and how he "relaxed". Bill cherished every moment of attending ball games and rodeos with his kids.
