Mary Alice (Porter) Rawlings

Mary Alice (Porter) Rawlings
October 13, 1939 ~ December 19, 2025

Mary Alice Porter Rawlings, 86, of Durant, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Alice was born on October 13, 1939, in Nashville, Arkansas, to John W. Porter Jr. and Johnnie L. Moss Porter. She graduated from high school in Nashville in 1957 and continued her education at the University of Arkansas before completing her training at Confederate Memorial Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1960, she earned her degree in Medical Technology.

While in Shreveport, Mary Alice met the love of her life, Robert Don Rawlings. The two were married on September 10, 1960, in Nashville, Arkansas, and shared 60 loving years of marriage until Robert’s passing on December 28, 2020.

Mary Alice devoted 42 years of her life to her career as a Medical Technologist. She retired in 2002 from Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism, and care for others.

Outside of her career, Mary Alice found great joy in traveling the world with her family. She had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley, whom she fondly referred to as “that good old Christian boy.” She enjoyed needlework, quilting, and painting, but nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her grandchildren and faithfully supporting them in all their endeavors.

Mary Alice grew up in the church and was a devout Christian whose faith guided every step of her life. She was a member of Community Christian Church, where she cherished attending women’s Bible study and formed many lifelong friendships.

Mary Alice was truly a friend to all and never met a stranger. She loved her family deeply and never failed to offer her support, encouragement, and kindness. Her faith, compassion, and unwavering love will remain her lasting legacy, carried forward by all who knew her.

Those remaining to cherish Mary Alice’s memory include her son, Richard “Ricky” Rawlings and wife Robin of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Angela Rawlings-Gregory and husband Matt of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Markita Grider Grantham of Fort Scott, Kansas; grandchildren, Pete Rawlings, Shaun Rawlings and wife Ami, Chad Rawlings and wife Casey, Brittni Rawlings Joines and husband Roby, Erin Kramer and husband Logan, Tyler Rawlings, Tanner Rawlings and wife Tatiana, Kaitlyn Gregory Phillips and husband Jordan, Paige Addington and husband Garrett, and Abi Gregory; as well as 12 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Preceding Mary Alice in death are her husband, Robert Don Rawlings; her son, Robert Mark Rawlings; her parents, John W. Porter Jr. and Johnnie L. Moss Porter; and her brothers, Frank Moss Porter and Roy Dale Porter.

A Family Hour will be held at Community Christian Church on Saturday, December 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville, Arkansas on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.

Her final resting place will be with her loved ones in Unity Cemetery in Nashville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary Alice’s memory may be made to Community Christian Church or J127.

Memorial arrangements are under the care of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holmescoffeymurray.com.
