Hermina Maria Johanna (Hoogaars) Ransford

Hermina Maria Johanna (Hoogaars) Ransford
August 21, 1944 ~ July 17, 2020

Hermien Ransford

Our Oma, Hermina Maria Johanna Ransford, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2020. She was born on August 21, 1944, in Uden, The Netherlands to Gerrit and Marie Hoogaars.

She grew up with her best friend and older sister Ria. While working at a drugstore, she met Steve Ransford, an airman in the United States Air Force. They were married on January 28, 1967. They settled and grew their family in Crescent, OK. They had five children: Mary Lou, Mark, Gerald, Stacy, and Justin. One of Oma’s proudest achievements was becoming a U.S. citizen on June 4, 1979. Oma started her healthcare career at the Crescent Care Center where she worked for 16 years, serving in several capacities, including housekeeper, activities director, and certified nurse’s aide. While working at the nursing home, she completed courses and was licensed as a nursing home administrator. After her time there, she took a position as a nurse technician at Mercy Hospital and eventually transitioned to a unit secretary. She held that position until her passing. Oma’s hobbies were spoiling her grandkids and her dog Bella. She enjoyed holiday traditions, especially using her secret recipes to make candies, dressing, and deviled eggs – which will all be greatly missed. She also loved spending time with her dear friend Roberta and her coworkers. Oma leaves us with her rich legacy of sacrifice, loyalty, perseverance, dignity, and family. Oma embodied all of these qualities and more, and she will forever inspire us to follow in her footsteps. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her sister Ria Broeren of Breda, daughter Mary Lou and husband Ric Lowry of Oklahoma City, son Mark and wife Larienea of Oklahoma City, son Gerald and wife Kristi of Tulsa, daughter Stacy and husband Dennis Evans of Cashion, son Justin and wife Lyndsey of Abilene, grandchildren Austen, Jessica and husband Titus Reiter, Madisen, Ashten, Caitlyn, Maggie, Olivia, and Clara, and many nieces and nephews. We love and miss you, Oma. We will see you again.

Oma’s Memorial Service will be held at CrossPoint Church on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 10:00 am.
