Vicki Lou (Gitthens) Randall

Vicki Lou (Gitthens) Randall
August 19, 1950 ~ May 8, 2020 (age 69)

Vicki Lou Randall, age 69, while lovingly surrounded by family, passed away on May 8, 2020, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born August 19, 1950, in Topeka, KS, the first child to the late Betty and Victor (Buck) Gitthens. Despite an aggressive cancer, Vicki kept a positive attitude throughout her final months.

Being the proud, eldest sister to Debra, Becky, and Randy, Vicki developed the strength and wisdom to later lead large organizations. She was a 1968 graduate of John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City. She later received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma City University in 1995, and then a Master of Education degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1998. She was the Assistant Director at the University of Oklahoma Department of Allied Health, for many years, leading to an early retirement. After her retirement, she pursued a second career as the Health System Specialist with the Veterans Health Administration at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in Oklahoma City. In the pursuit of adventure, she later accepted an appointment with the US Embassy, as a Diplomat managing the U.S. Veteran Affairs Clinics in Manila, Philippines. For eight years, Vicki and Rick both embraced the Philippine people, land, and culture. Vicki was loved by her colleagues over the years, and many stayed in touch, bringing her joy until her last days.

Vicki and Rick Randall, were married March 17, 1981, and thus began a partnership of adventures. They shared a love of travel and foreign cultures, and visited much of the world. From Turkey, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Australia, Europe, Italy, Russia, to the Rocky Mountains, they have stepped on nearly every continent. She was happiest with a glass of wine and a fishing pole, while sitting by her backyard lake.

Vicki is survived by her beloved husband Patrick (Rick) Randall; three children, Amy and Steve Long of The Woodlands, TX, Victoria and Joey Penwell of Norman, OK, and Patrick and Amy Randall of Edmond, Ok; and seven grandchildren, William, Andrew, and Abbigail Long, Samuel and Averie Penwell, and Everett and Eli Randall; three younger siblings, Debra and Greg Bailey, Becky and Steve Vaught, and Randy and Donna Gitthens; and a flock of nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Vicki. Preceding her in death are her parents Victor Louis Gitthens in 1977, and Betty Jo Gitthens in 2019. Her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, will miss their Vicki dearly, and wish her a peaceful and joyful reunion with her dear parents.
