Lawrence Nolan (Larry) Ramey, Sr., passed from this life on March 16, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 84. He was born on July 14, 1935 in Lafayette, Indiana to Leroy and Lois (Abney) Ramey. His school years were spent in Indiana where he graduated from Coal Creek Central High School with the class of 1955. Following graduation Larry moved to California where he resided for nearly 50 years. He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Richardson and they were blessed with three sons, Steven, Brian and Lawrence, Jr. Larry was employed at Turner-Volvo in Sacramento, California for 30 years as an auto technician, an occupation he truly loved. Upon his retirement and following the loss of his wife, Larry relocated to Camargo, Oklahoma in 2003. He met Meredith Holley Robinson and they were united in marriage at Leedey, Oklahoma on December 4, 2010. Their marriage added three sons to Larry’s life, John, Aaron and Roger Robinson. Larry and Meredith enjoyed traveling with the Jamboree Travelers and made numerous trips to Branson, Missouri. Larry was a big fan of basketball, no team in particular, he liked them all, from High School games to the NBA. His special interests included restoring vintage cars, his first was a 1942 Studebaker. He was also a member of the Loyal order of the Moose in Woodward, Oklahoma. At the age of 14, Larry was baptized at the First Christian Church in Battleground, Indiana. He renewed his faith in 2004 and became a member of the Harvest Fellowship Church at Leedey, Oklahoma. He also enjoyed attending services at the First Christian Church in Camargo, Oklahoma.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Lois Ramey, his step-father, August Fountain, his sons, Steven and Brian, his two brothers and other dear relatives.
He is survived by his wife Meredith Robinson Ramey, his sons Lawrence Nolan Ramey, Jr. and wife Missy, John Robinson and wife Kelley, Aaron Robinson and Roger Robinson and wife Dee Dra. His daughter-in-law, Tammy Ramey, numerous grandchildren and great grands, nieces and nephews, other loved ones and friends.
