Ronald James Raines, 67, resident of Dewey, died at 8:16 PM, Monday in Tulsa.
Friends may sign the guestbook at the funeral home till 9 PM, Thursday A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday in the Rose Hill Community Baptist Church with Pastor Orville Moody officiating. Cremation arrangements were by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Ronald James Raines was born on January 7, 1948 at Bartlesville the son of Neil and Betty (Vinson) Raines. He was raised in Ramona and Bartlesville, and graduated from Col High with the Class of 1966. He attended Northeastern State College and married Rita Shrum on December 18, 1970 at Bartlesville.
He was a master mechanic and had worked for B & C Automotive in sales and then worked for D.F.R. as their Parts Manager until he retired in 2013 due to ill health. He was a member of the Ramona First Baptist Church. Ron loved his family and loved to race cars, dune buggies and was a huge NASCAR fan.
Ron is survived by his wife Rita of the home, one son Ronald James Raines II and Jami Swift, of Bartlesville, one daughter Kimberly Crawford and her husband Mike of Dewey, his mother Betty M. Melton of Bartlesville, one grandson Michael Crawford, Jr. and Axel Swift, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-father, R.W. Bill Melton.
Ron never met a joke he didn't like.
