Chuck was born February 19th, 1944 in McAlester, Oklahoma the son of Alpha and Allen Rager. Growing up he attended school in Dowl and Haileyville and graduated from high school in 1962. He attended Eastern Oklahoma A&M graduating in 1964 with an associate's degree. Chuck pursued a degree at Oklahoma State University in Horticulture and enlisted in the United States' Army Reserve. Chuck ended his Reserve Service in McAlester and in 1967 he began a career with Boy Scouts of America. While attending a scout meeting in Stigler, Oklahoma he met his wife Jane Schoonover. Chuck and Jane were married in November of 1969. During his scout career he served in Wilburton, Poteau, Lawton, Oklahoma City, Edmond, and Ponca City. After serving 32 years with Boy Scouts, Chuck retired as the Scout Executive of Will Roger's Boy Scout Council in 1999.

Chuck has been a member of Kiwanis for 50 years and has served in many Kiwanis leadership capacities at the club, division and district levels: served as president of Kiwanis Clubs in Lawton, Edmond and Ponca City, Lt. Governor for Division 19, three times Lt. Governor for Division 16, Master Instructor for the Texas-Oklahoma District, trustee for the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation. When Chuck and his wife Jane moved to Ponca City in 1985 he became a member of the Ponca City Kiwanis Club and continued his commitment to the high ideals of service through the organization. He served the club as president, on the board of directors and was always active in service projects and fundraisers. Through the years he has been counted on as a leader, mentor, advisor and anchor for the club members. With encouragement and leadership Chuck and Jane helped Kiwanis organize the Ponca City High School Kiwanis Key Club in 2001. Chuck Rager will continue to be an inspiration to the Kiwanis volunteers as they continue to serve the children and youth in Ponca City. /p>

CChuck has been an active member of the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was a long time leadership chair for the Ponca City Leadership Program. Chuck served on the Tourism Bureau and was instrumental in many of the tourism programs that exist today. He and Jane traveled many times to work the Ponca City booth at tourism shows promoting our events and attractions. He has served as the Kay County representative on the Red Carpet Country board, Chamber's Ambassador Committee and Education Committee. Many years he greeted people as they arrived at the Ponca City Chamber Banquet. Chuck received the Chamber's Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Jane of the home. He is also survived by one brother, Ken and his wife Lavena of Bristow. Other survivors include one uncle, Bert Hodges of The Dalles, OR., and several cousins. /p>

AA memorial service, celebrating Chuck's life, will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 19th (Chuck's birthday) at the Carolyn Renfro Center located at Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in Ponca City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Ponca City Kiwanis, Albright UMC of Ponca City or the Cimarron Council of the Boy Scouts, PO Box 3146, Enid, OK 73701. /p>

Contributions to the Boy Scouts will assist scouts from the Ponca City area attend Summer Camp.
