Darrell G. Raffety

April 8, 1944 ~ June 28, 2009

Darrell G. Raffety, longtime Cushing resident and retired truck driver, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 in Tulsa, at the age of 65 years.

The son of the late Roy Raffety and Alice Smith Raffety, Darrell was born on April 8, 1944, in Cushing and was reared and educated here.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Brown on January 2, 1969 in Cushing and to this union three children, Sandra, Sean and Jody were born.

Darrell served his country in the United States Army, and following his honorable discharge, he returned to Cushing and had driven trucks for Norman Carroll Trucking out of Shamrock and for Conoco Oil Company.

He was an avid watcher of western movies; he enjoyed guns, knives and spending time with his family and especially his grand kids.

He will be missed by all that knew him and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grand father.

Surviving include his wife, Shirley Raffety of the home; his children, Sandra Rogers and her husband Shawn of Choctaw, OK, Sean Raffety and his wife Amanda of Chouteau, OK and Jody Raffety of Miami, OK; one sister Katherine Rogers of Pensacola, FL; five grandchildren, Buster Scholten, Chase Rogers, Quinton Raffety, Bailee Raffety and Chloee Raffety; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 1 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Clouse, pastor of the First Church of God officiating.
