Thomas Ruel Quick

August 17, 1925 ~ March 7, 2016

Thomas Ruel Quick, 90, of Pink, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was born August 17, 1925 to Andrew Jackson and Nettie Brown Quick in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Thomas grew up in Holdenville and traveled with his parents to many places during his childhood. His parents were cotton pickers and would follow the harvest.

He has lived in the Pink community for the past 38 years.

Thomas attended college at Nazarene University in Bethany.

He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He married Thelma Jean Wade in 1945 in Oklahoma City.

Thomas was a plumber by trade and owned and operated his own plumbing company. He was known for a plumbing invention that is still used today.

He became a preacher at the age of 21 and pastored at several Churches of God in Oklahoma. He also pastored at a nondenominational church in Pink for several years.

Thomas was a member of the Inventers Congress, a beekeeper, and state champ in his archery division. He loved to fish, hunt and take trips to Roaring River State Park in Missouri. He loved to play the guitar and harmonica playing only Christian music and was the all-around Best Dad ever and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, son-in-law, Bobby Young and daughters-in-law, Wanda Quick and Linda Quick.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 70 years, Thelma J. Quick of the home; four children, Darla and Carl Coffman of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jerry Wade Quick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Andrew Wayne Quick of Pink, Oklahoma and Amber and David Belyeu of Meeker, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, Diana and Tony Wiens, Charles and Wendy Young, Lisa and Gary Crauthers, Tommy Quick, Kenny Quick, Michelle and Jeff Innis, Crystal and Craig Crisler, Micah Quick, David Quick, Hannah Boigk, Amy and Alan Farris and Lesli and Garey Knoles; numerous great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Dial of Texas; brother, Cecil and Kathryn Quick of Choctaw, Oklahoma; sisters, Mae and Kenneth Slate and Marie and Barney Bredwell of Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with David Belyeu officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
