John Lee Qualls

John Lee Qualls
August 28, 1967 ~ August 26, 2025

John Lee Qualls was born on August 28, 1967, in Salinas, California, to Wayne and Dolores (Lee) Qualls. The family moved to Pryor, Oklahoma when John was a child. John attended local schools and graduated from Pryor High School in 1986. Then in 1989, John joined the United States Army. He served as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne during the Gulf War. He was a communications specialist for his unit and was highly decorated. His medals included the Bronze Star. John was honorably discharged from the Army in 1992.

Upon his return home, John became employed as a lineman for GRDA. His career spanned over twenty years before he retired. In his spare time, John enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. He also enjoyed yellow vehicles. He owned a yellow Corvette, a yellow Jeep, and a yellow Harley – Davidson. John was a member of the North Elliott Church of God and will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who had a smile for everyone. He will be missed by all who loved him.

John departed this life on August 26, 2025, in Pryor, Oklahoma, at the age of 57. He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Dolores Qualls; son, Johnathan Qualls; daughter, Megan Qualls; stepson, Austin Lott and his three sons, Travis, Bentley and Holden; sister, Kilby Barringer and her husband, Dustin Barringer; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends and family who will miss him dearly.

John was preceded in death by his sister, Marya Qualls-Grissom.

Cremation has been entrusted to Stephens-Key Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later time.
