Rhoda Pugh died at her Woodland home on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at age 76.
Born Nov. 4, 1925 in Bentley, Okla. to the late Agustus and Susie Burris (Impson) Williams, she had been a resident of Yolo County for the last 12 years.
Mrs. Pugh was a Native American and a member of the Choctaw nation of Okla. She cherished her heritage and supported the causes of the American Indians, passing her beliefs to her children and grandchildren.
According to family members, "she enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, fishing, playing bingo, and passing the hours with her quilting, sewing and crocheting."
According to family members, "she was especially attached to her pet 'Lizzie the lizard' and spent many hours playing with her.
Mrs. Pugh is survived by sons Freeman Pugh, Richard Pugh and "significant other" Carol Minarik of Fort Worth, Texas; daughters Patsy Cadwell of Woodland and Brenda Fohner and husband Greg of Haskell, Okla., daughter-in-law Dianne Butler of Eugene, Ore., and sister Lillian Rogers of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She is also survived by granddaughters Angela Walker and husband Rick of Eugene, Ore., Kimberly Reyes and husband Tony of Woodland, Shari Dixon and husband Shawn of Santa Rosa, Stephanie Sanders of Woodland, Kaia Fletcher of Haskell, Okla., and Christine Pugh of Cedar Hill, Texas; great-grandchildren Anthony and Alex Reyes, Cori and Emma Walker, Logan Dixon, Bradford Hernandez, and Catherine Chinske, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Caswell O. Pugh on January 10, 1987.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second Street, Woodland.
Funeral services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Kraft Bros. Chapel. Internment is scheduled to follow at Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Ave., Sutter, with Chaplain Ron Gali officiating.
The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo County Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.
Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
