Graveside services will be held Friday, April 7, at Napa Memorial Park Cemetery, 2383 Napa Vallejo Hwy., Napa CA, at 2:00 p.m. for Violet Mae Puccinelli, a longtime resident of Bakersfield and owner of Vi's Cocktail Lounge on Rosedale Highway.
It was Violet's fervent wish that she be buried next to her mother who preceded her in death.
Born in Hinton, Oklahoma July 8, 1925 to John and Gertrude Overstreet, Violet passed away at Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital on Thursday, March 30, 2006 after suffering a stroke in late November of 2005.
Violet owned and managed Vi's Cocktail Lounge on Rosedale Highway for over 40 years, celebrating her 40th year anniversary in 2001 with patrons, friends, and family. Called an icon by one of her customers, Violet asked "What does an icon mean? I'm not a saint!" It was explained that she was a person of uncritical devotion!
Violet is survived by her sisters; Betty Hagler of Napa and Peggy Brown of Connecticut; her daughter, Patricia Mevi of San Francisco and her two grandchildren; Ashley Mevi, a student at Columbia University in New York and Ethan Mevi, a computer specialist in San Francisco.
Over the years Violet enjoyed her trips. Having traveled with her sisters to Arubu, Hawaii, and New York; and shorter excursions with her daughter and grandchildren. She appreciated fine dining, exquisite jewelry, and the latest fashions. Beautiful Violet, you will be missed by all you left behind.
