Delma Lee "Dee" Pryce

Delma Lee "Dee" Pryce
May 31, 1929 ~ July 9, 2023

Delma Lee "Dee" Pryce peacefully departed this life on Sunday morning, July 9, 2023, at Briarcliff Health Center of Greenville of Greenville, TX. Dee spent much of her 94 years in and around the Bartlesville-Dewey area.

Her parents, Robert Thomas and Louise Anna (Jones) Cary raised Dee in the close company of her sisters (Wilda Elizabeth Chew, Margaret Roberta Kean, and Josephine Louise "Peggy" Johnston Padgett). As the youngest of the 4 Cary sisters, Dee was blessed with nieces near her age. These relationships grew to be a sisterhood that remained close throughout her life. Together, Dee, sister Wilda, and nieces Peggy (Chew) Collins and Betty (Chew) Werts delighted the family with their harmonious A Cappella voices singing their favorite hymns.

Dee graduated from Dewey High School, where she met the love of her life, Carmel Lee “C.L.” Pryce. Shortly after they married in December 1947, C.L., an enlisted U.S. Army Air Corps member, received transfer orders to the Panama Canal area. Dee cared for their infant son (Cary "Steve" Pryce) until C.L. completed his service commitment. The young family of three returned to the Bartlesville area. In the following five years, two other children, Janet (Pryce) Laws and Dale Edward Pryce, completed their family.

The Pryce family relocated as C.L. advanced in his career. Dee devoted herself to raising the children before choosing to work outside the home when the youngest entered high school. C.L. retired in 1988. Much to the pleasure of their children and grandchildren, the couple built their dream lakeside home in Hughes Springs, TX. They loved the lake life. And the family immensely enjoyed the fun lake toys, fishing, 4-wheeling, and hand-cranked ice cream. However, none were fond of the Fire Ants or Scorpions.

C.L. passed away in 1991. Dee returned to Bartlesville to be near her family and friends. In her later years, she became an avid collector of all things Thomas Kincaid, the Painter of Light. She also cherished anything featuring Angels. Dee faithfully watched NASCAR from start to end of each season. Everyone knew not to call her during a race.

Dee is survived by her children, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 2 nephews her Sister-in-Law (Joyce Pryce), and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held on August 19, 2023, at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a Memorial service at 1:00 p.m. The family suggests donations to the Facial Pain Association in lieu of flowers. FPA serves those affected by neuropathic facial pain, including Trigeminal Neuralgia, a condition Dee endured for many years.
