Orville Proffitt, age 78, of Lawton passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Home.
Orville was born on October 11, 1939 in Polly, Kentucky to William and Eva (Bach) Proffitt.
He enlisted in the United States Army on February 2, 1961 and proudly served his country for over twenty-six years before retiring on April 30, 1987 as a Master Sergeant. Orville was a Vietnam Veteran and received numerous awards, medals and commendations during his service. He later retired, with over twenty years of service, from Civil Service.
He will be remembered for his selfless devotion to family, country and his faith in God.
Preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Proffitt and his wife Anna Proffitt,
Orville is survived by two sons, Billy R.W. Proffitt of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky and Jerry W. Proffitt of Louisville, Kentucky and one daughter, Diana Proffitt of Lehigh Acres, Florida.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Post Chapel at Fort Sill.
