Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Oakwood Christian Church in Oakwood, OK for Lester B. Proffitt, 86, of Watonga, OK with Pastor Shane Sander officiating. Services are under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview, OK.
Lester Burrell Proffitt was born on June 4, 1929 at Fairview, OK to George Washington and Eva Marie (Kahle) Proffitt. He departed this life to be with his Lord on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, OK. Lester attended school at East Pleasanthill grade school and Fairview High School. He was a salesman for Waldon for many years and also farmed. He lived in the Oakwood area and also served as their mayor for several years. Lester married Patricia Boden on March 14, 1992 at Watonga, OK, where they made their home. He enjoyed being outside and mowing the grass.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty Proffitt; one son, Rudy Proffitt; one granddaughter, Susan Proffitt.
Survivors include his wife Patricia (Boden) Proffitt of the home; daughters Linda Howerton and Buddy Smith of Fairview, OK, Rita Mitch and husband Terry of Longdale, OK and Janell Curtis and husband Larry of Okarche, OK, step-children Peggy Schimmels of Oklahoma City, OK, Larry Boden and wife Mona of Watonga, OK, Terry Boden and wife Mary of Thomas, OK, Paula Staude and husband Rick of Laverne, OK and Gary Boden and wife Mary of Watonga, OK; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Fae Bierig of Okeene, OK; his previous wife and the mother of his children, Berneita Strohm of Fairview, OK; one cousin, Mason Proffitt of Cordell, OK.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Hospice of Weatherford with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737.
