Robert "Bob" Pritchard

Aug. 20, 1938 ~ Apr. 8, 2006

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.
Ernest Hemingway

Robert was born on August 20, 1938 to Henry Lloyd and Loula Lee Prichard in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma where he lived a short time. He passed away in his home on April 8, 2006, in Bakersfield, CA at the age of 67.

During his childhood he spent his time with his brothers, Larry, Thomas, Harvey and Mike Pritchard and three sisters, Janyce Holland, Diana Hoose and Sharon Valenzuela.

In 1958, at the age of 20, Robert joined the military and served his country for three years until 1961. After his stint in the military, Robert worked 18 dedicated years for Bakersfield Music. In his own entrepreneurial style Robert went from 'employed' to 'employer' when he and his longtime friend, Richard Guill opened Modern Amusement Company in 1980. This last business venture spanned from its outset until 1993 when Robert retired. During his lifetime Robert endured the deaths of his mother, father and his brothers, Larry, Thomas and Harvey. Throughout his life Robert Loved to spend time with family, go bowling, and his favorite pastime was racing. Robert was a generous, caring, and loving soul and he will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Pritchard; his four children, Robert Pritchard, Kathy Pritchard, Ann Pritchard (Quy), Colleen Cottingim and his brother, Mike; and 3 sisters, Janyce, Diana and Sharon. He also leaves behind close family friend, Diane Denson and his 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.
Albert Pike

There will be a viewing Wednesday, April 12, 2006, from 4-8 p.m., at Mish Funeral Home-Oildale and a celebration of his life Friday, April 14, 2006, at 6:00 p.m., at his home, 609 Sanford Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93308.
