Mary Emma Prince, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 87 years of age.
Mary Emma was born July 5, 1924 in Atkins, Arkansas, the daughter of Irl R. Darr and Alice Patton Darr. She was a graduate of Atkins High School. She was employed at one time with the First Baptist Church Day Care Center in Ponca City and later operated her own Child Day Care Center in her home. Before becoming housebound she enjoyed playing cards, shopping and going to garage sales. She enjoyed visits from family and friends, particularly Angie Hile and her parents from Tulsa and her granddaughter, Rebecca and greatgrandson, Ryder Waymire. She very much loved her constant companion, a Saint Bernard named Lady.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Waymire and husband, Dan, of Ponca City, and Alice Westcott of Norman, Oklahoma three grandchildren, Rebecca Danielle Waymire, of Ponca City, Brandon Garrett Westcott of Texas, and Robert Michael Westcott, M.D., of Lindsey, Oklahoma one great grandson, Ryder Thomas Waymire her close friends, Lori Jones and Kevin Jones and their daughters Emma and Sabrina of Ponca City Frank Straw and Cheryl Klinger, all of Ponca City Toni and Tom Hile and their daughters Angie Hile of Tulsa and Gina Taylor of Stillwater and Dr. Ellen Harden of Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents and soninlaw, Robert Westcott.
