Mattie Leeshell Price, longtime Ponca City resident, favorably known as "Grandma Moses," died at home in her sleep on Sunday, January 2, 2022, of a heart condition at age 71.

She was born to Harvey Paul (H. P.) Price Jr. and Eleanor Irene (Johnson) Price on June 23, 1950, in Bristow, Oklahoma. Mattie grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Wichita Public Schools, graduating from North High School. She was baptized at the age of 12 at Stranger Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Wichita.

Mattie worked for the Wichita Public Schools as a support employee and for the Wichita Police Department as a secretary.

In addition to being a homemaker in Ponca City, Mattie became known as "Grandma Moses." She was deemed this special nickname because she would attend court and represent people of the community of Ponca City, most of the time winning her case.

Mattie took the simplest pleasures in life. It brought her great joy to help people.

She lived a fulfilling life, loving the Lord, and being mother to her three children, Anthony Donell Moore, Eric Moore, and Jesse Len Trimble. She also loved and cherished all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of 12 children and a loving, caring sister to her 11 siblings. Mattie was an amazing partner to Clarence Green for 20 years.

She loved to cook. Other qualities she possessed were her unique sense of humor and the immense care she showed others as well as being a friend to many. She will be greatly missed. She loved the people of Ponca City.

Mattie is survived by Clarence Green, Ponca City; her son, Eric Moore, Ponca City; siblings Johnetta Eckford and David, Fort Smith, Arkansas; Earl Love, Byars, Oklahoma; Paul Love and Cherri, Wichita, Kansas; Rickey Love and Linda, Wichita, Kansas; Kenneth Love and Nicki, Wichita, Kansas; Iretta Thomas and William, Wichita, Kansas; and a host of other relatives that include grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, two aunts, and other loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Anthony Donell Moore and Jesse Len Trimble; her parents; stepfather, Paul Love; siblings Clifford Price, Lucille Price, and twin siblings Melvin Price and Melva Cunningham.

Those attending the visitation and funeral are asked to wear masks. Visitation is Monday, January 10, 2022, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Grace Memorial Chapel, 2016 North 14 Street, Ponca City, OK 74601. The funeral service is Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel, with Elder Faithan Frazier, Wichita, Kansas, officiating. Cremation arrangements will be under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
